The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is one of the 13 major operating components of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which is the principal agency in the United States government for protecting the health and safety of all Americans and for providing essential human services, especially for those people who are least able to help themselves. Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE)
SOPHE is an independent, international professional association made up of a diverse membership of health education professionals and students. The Society promotes healthy behaviors, healthy communities, and healthy environments through its membership, its network of local chapters, and its numerous partnerships with other organizations. With its primary focus on public health education, SOPHE provides leadership through a code of ethics, standard for professional preparation, research, and practice; professional development; and public outreach.

Directors of Health Promotion and Education (DHPE)
DHPE is a national organization representing health promotion and health education leaders in state heath agencies and their partner organizations. DHPE's goal is to strengthen the practice of health education and health promotion with the public health system. DHPE supports science-base solutions and proven strategies, advocates for national and state policy solutions to public health issues, and continues to offer training to strengthen the practice community.
