General Information
The Kenya Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation will host the 3rd Annual African Network for Influenza Surveillance and Epidemiology (ANISE) Meeting in Nairobi, Kenya. The meeting will be co-sponsored by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Kenya Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation. The meeting will bring together approximately 150 participants from over 20 African countries, international public health organizations, and academic institutions.

MEETING OVERVIEW:

Background: This meeting follows on from the 2nd Annual ANISE Meeting held in Accra, Ghana in January 2011 and is sponsored by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Kenya Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation.

Format: The three-day meeting will include plenary sessions, breakout sessions, and poster presentations.

Who Should Attend: Laboratorians, epidemiologists, veterinarians and other public health practitioners and academicians involved in influenza-related public health activities or influenza research in Africa.

Scientific Themes: We will focus on the following scientific themes:
  • Burden of Disease (including risk factors and economic studies)
  • Virologic Surveillance
  • Co-infections and Other Respiratory Pathogens
  • Vaccines and Other Interventions
